On Tuesday nights, when there is no beginners' course running, you may book private lessons with the Instructor. They last 20min and cost 10e (paid to SHMS)
Fees
All Helsinki training fees are paid to the Finnish Association of Historical Fencing (Suomen Historiallisen Miekkailun Seura ry).
Association annual membership: 40 € (due 2nd January)
Training fee in a 4-month block: 130/210 € (lower fee for unemployed and students, payment due 2nd of month)
Training fee for one month: 40/60 € (due 2nd of month)
Make sure you use your own reference number when paying! Every member has received two reference numbers when they joined the school (or later), one for the monthly payments and one for the annual membership payments. If you are a member but do not have two reference numbers, contact the SHMS chairman. (Free tip: new members - go find the bottom half of your membership information slip)
Fees must be paid on time, because the money goes to things like paying for the salle. A standing order is recommended.

Beginners
Students on the Beginners' course are welcome to all classes. For an idea of what is covered in the beginners course, check the syllabus page (scroll down to "Beginners' Course syllabus and schedule"). The next beginners' course runs 18.00-19.30 on Tuesdays, for two months (starting March 2nd 2010), and the class will go over the fundamentals slowly and carefully. We encourage beginners to attend all Fiore classes during the week, though be prepared to feel a little confused and overwhelmed at first. This is natural, and goes away with practice and familiarity.
Sign up for the Beginner's course by email to info@swordschool.com.
What happens in class?
A normal class starts with a warm-up, and progresses to unarmed exercises and dagger work. There usually follows a period of solo weapons training, then pair drills. The free training sessions will have something for everyone, freeplay for those with enough basic training, preparatory exercises for those less experiences, and conditioning and body maintenance for all.
Private Lessons
Private lessons with the instructor can be arranged as one-off taster classes or blocks of lessons. Contact Mr. Windsor for details of fees, and to arrange a time (any time outside regular class hours and scheduled seminars is usually possible). Private lessons are open to all.
Weekend course and beginner's course payments
Pay without a reference number. Include your name as well as the name and date of the course in the message section of the payment form. Like so: "Jane Doe, Capo Ferro rapier 31.1. and 1.2."
