Welcome! I hope you enjoy this little zine of fencing happiness.
This printable pocket guide summarises the salute described by Domenico
Angelo in L’École des Armes (1763) and The School of Fencing (1787).
It’s designed as a handy memory aid for students who have already
learned the salute, and as a quick reference to keep in your fencing
bag.
Download the printable PDF here.
Print it on a single sheet of A4 paper, then cut and fold it into an
eight-page booklet.
Videos and Further Instruction
The zine is deliberately concise. You can see the whole salute demonstrated here:
This video was quick and casual, shot for a friend and not originally intended for distribution. For a complete introduction to the mechanics of Angelo's smallsword fencing, including the salute, see our webinar here:

Folding Instructions
The zine prints on a single sheet of A4 paper and folds into an
eight-page booklet.
If you’ve never made one before, it’s very straightforward. I first
discovered this format through Austin Kleon, whose short video on his substack here explains how to cut and fold your zine: https://austinkleon.substack.com/p/how-to-read-like-an-artist

Feel free to print copies for your club, your friends, your training partners, or your students.
If you find it useful, I’d love to hear how you’re using it. And if
there’s another historical source, drill, or Swordschool syllabus you’d
like to see turned into a pocket guide, please let me know.
Happy training!
